Thus says the Lord: "Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls." - Jeremiah 6:16

Our goal is very simple. Practice 1st Century, New Testament Christianity to the best of our abilities. It is all found in God's Word.

What we believe

Our mission at North River is to fulfill the great commission (Matthew 28:19-20), to worship God as He has commanded (John 4:24), and to help those in need (James 1:27).

The Bible is the only guide and authority for what we do (Psalms 119:105, 160). It defines who we are and gives us purpose and hope in our life (Romans 15:4, 1 Peter 1:23). It is inspired of God and is sufficient for all things (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:3)

Jesus Christ is the author of salvation (Hebrews 5:9, 12:2). It was by his death and resurrection that our sins may be atoned for (Romans 3:23-24) - if we have faith (Romans 10:17) and obey His Word (1 John 5:2) in which the plan of salvation can be found (Romans 6:3-5).

The church, or the kingdom of God, is what all believers are added to when they are saved (1 Corinthians 12:13). The church was bought by Christ and He is head over it - our king! (Ephesians 1:22-23, Colossians 1:18)

The answer to this question has implications both now and for eternity. Sadly, wrong answers are being given all the time. In this study, Don Blackwell opens the Bible and shares with us God's answer to this question.

Contemporary religious scholars and historians estimate that there are approximately 38,000 denominations in the world today. Have you ever wondered if the true church still exists today? Does it really matter to which church I belong? If the true church does exist, how can I find it?

what to expect

Sunday & Wednesday Bible Class  |  Every Sunday and Wednesday, we have Bible classes for adults and children.  This is an opportunity for your family to delve deeper into the Word and study with fellow Christians.  We would love for you to join us!

Sunday Worship  |  Our worship is marked with simplicity and done in spirit and truth

  • Prayer - We truly believe James 5:16 when it says, "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."  At North River, we always start our studies and worship with prayer to our Lord and Savior.  There is also the opportunity for you to write down your prayer requests on our TLC list (Tender Love & Care) or share your request with one of the members.

  • Singing - One of the first things you may notice is that everyone, from young to old, sings together with a joyful heart unto God.  Feel free to join us in our singing.  Ephesians 5:19-20 says we are to address "one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."  (See also Colossians 3:16)  Amen!

  • Preaching - At North River, you will hear sound, Bible-saturated, Christ-centered lessons aimed at encouraging, edifying, convicting, and exhorting all those who hear.  As Pauls states, we are charged to "Preach the word!  Be ready in season and out of season.  Convince, rebuke, and exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching" (2 Timothy 4:1-2).  We pray you gain a new appreciation and desire for the all-sufficient Word of God.

  • Lord's Supper - Every first day of the week when we come together, we partake of the bread and fruit of the vine just like the New Testament Christians did (Acts 20:7).  This provides an opportunity for each Christian to remember our Lord's sacrifice for us and "proclaim the Lord's death until He comes" (1 Corinthians 11:26).

  • Contribution - During worship, a collection plate will be passed around for members to give as they have decided in their hearts, "not relunctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver" (1 Corinthians 9:7, ESV).  The money is used to support our preacher and missionaries, conduct outreach in our community, assist orphans and widows, and do much more.  Visitors should not feel obligated to give.

  • Fellowship - One of the benefits of coming together is fellowshipping with like-minded brothers and sisters.  You will find our congregation friendly and willing to help you in any way they can.  We truly believe that "where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there in the midst of them" (Matthew 18:20).
